Burnet’s baseball season ends

NEW BRAUNFELS — Facing the prospect of an early end to its season, the Burnet High School baseball team was determined to beat Yoakum in Game 2 of the best-of-three area series May 14.

But Yoakum matched that determination, setting the tone in the first inning for a 5-3 victory that ended Burnet’s season in the second round of the Class 3A playoffs.

In the first inning, Burnet senior pitcher Emil Litterer hit Kerry Linn and Adam Hunter with pitches. Clean-up batter Justin Boening took advantage of the runners on bases, sending a pitch over the left-field wall for a three-run homer.
