Flames go up against hot-shooting Waldorf
AUSTIN — The Faith Academy boys basketball team lost to Austin Waldorf, 70-28, Tuesday.
The Flames (5-11, 0-3) ran up against a Waldorf team that made most of its first-shot attempts. "They were really good," head coach John Berkman said. "They shot the ball very well. They shot the three very well. They made quite a few."
Waldorf also created scoring opportunities, he added.
"They pressed and got after us defensively," he said.
Despite the score, Berkman said his players displayed the character that Faith fans look for.
"First of all, we never stopped playing," he said. "We kept playing hard all the way till the end. We kept playing late into the game."
The Flames have been working on another offensive set, the coach said.
"We learned that when we slow down, even against a good team, we were able to get good things from it," he said.
The Flames will face Kerrville Our Lady of the Hills 7:30 p.m. Thursday at The Fire Pit on the Faith campus, three miles east of Marble Falls on RR 1431.
