Charles Blackwell, 69, died Dec. 12, 2010. He was born in Dallas Nov. 18, 1941, to Gene and Virginia Blackwell. He graduated from Arlington High School in 1960 and the University of Texas at Arlington seven years later.

After graduation. he worked in the corporate world before starting his own computer business, then later a recreational vehicle business.

He lived the American dream, growing up in a Christian home in Arlington when it was small-town America; marrying his high school sweetheart Suzanne Deering and enjoying 50 years together; and working his way through college while he and his wife raised their children.

Always curious and adventuresome, the couple lived in many places across the United States and even in the South Pacific.

His greatest pleasure outside of his family was sharing his love of Jesus Christ.  He shared with those he met in the workplace, the medical area and everywhere life took him. He also took that love of Christ to Hawaii, Africa, Europe and Asia on multiple mission trips.

He had fond memories of baptizing in the Pacific Ocean when he was in Hawaii and in a river in Africa.

In addition to his wife, survivors include his children and spouses Tami Taylor and husband Mark and Greg Blackwell and wife Debbie; brother Lee and wife Linda; and grandchildren Thomas and Ruby Blackwell, and Christine and Katherine Taylor.

A service is 10 a.m. Dec. 14 at Hill Country Fellowship, 200 Houston Clinton Drive in Burnet.

Memorial contributions in his memory can be made to missions at Hill Country Fellowship Church.
