Joe Calvin Catron, 83, of Marble Falls died May 14, 2010. He was born to John H. and Letha (McVey) Catron Oct. 14, 1926, in Corbin, Ky.

He served in the Navy from 1943-1946. Beginning in 1953, he started his lifelong career as an auto dealer. He also raced sports cars from 1955 to 1968 and founded Drivers For Highway Safety in California. He married Lynne Elaine Lekich Dec. 12, 1967, in Patterson, Calif.

He enjoyed crossword puzzles, watching auto races and traveling. He was a proud grandfather and loved playing with his grandchildren, family members said.

In addition to his wife, survivors include children Debbie Norton and husband Mike of Spicewood, and Jeff Carton and Joe D. Catron, both of California; grandchildren Katelyn Norton, Emily Norton, Dillon Norton, Logan Norton of Spicewood, Taylor Thompson, Brett Catron, Laura Catron, Koa Catron, Brahn Catron and Naiya Catron; nieces Jamie Cook and Suzi Meze; nephews Trever Cook, Steve Cook, Johnny Catron and David Catron, all of California, and Gary Catron of Colorado.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother John Catron; and sister Ruthe Cook.

Funeral services were May 17 at the First United Methodist Church in Marble Falls with the Rev. Mike Morris officiating.  Interment followed at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park in Burnet.
