Velma Jean (Wissler) Loyd died April 28, 2010. She was born Oct. 30, 1946, in Topeka, Kan., and was preceded in death by her father Harvey Wissler and mother Mary Jo Wissler.

She always had a smile and a laugh that was enjoyed and appreciated by all, and her outgoing personality always lit up the room when she entered.

She was employed by the city of Lawrence, Kan., for seven years, the Teacher Retirement System of Texas for 26 years, and the Burnet Central Appraisal  District for seven years.

Survivors include her husband Bari Loyd; brother John Wissler; daughter Jennifer Brown and husband Rick; sons Stephen Loyd and wife Gayle, Loni Loyd and wife Angie, and Mike Loyd and wife Trish; sister-in-law Rholetta Loyd; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Seton Highland Lakes Hospital of Burnet and doctors Glenn Preston and Thomas Fisher of the Cancer Care Centers of South Texas in Marble Falls.

A memorial service is 10:30 a.m. May 8 at the First Lutheran Church of Burnet, 133 Apollo Drive with the Rev. Richard Bremer officiating.
