James Almond Watkins, 85, of Granite Shoals died April 16, 2010.

He was born Jan. 14, 192,5 in Gilmer to William and Huleit Lee (Davidson) Watkins.

He served in the Marines as a fighter pilot and was part of the Black Sheep Squadron in World War II.  He later was an engineer for a steel company.

Survivors include his wife Milly Watkins of Granite Shoals; son Ed Kinsey and wife Carol  of Sacramento, Calif.; and sister Frances Webster of Kirbyville. He also is survived by many nieces and nephews, other relatives and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Spencer Watkins and siblings, Claudie Glasco Watkins, Avis Johnson Watkins, Bert Watkins, Ila Mae Webster, Alliene Sherman, Theo Watkins and Jean Sublett.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 1805 U.S. 281 North in Marble Falls. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Buchanan West Baptist Church, 850 Lillian Dean in Buchanan Dam with the Rev. John Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park off Park Road 4.

Memorials may be made to Buchanan West Baptist Church.
