Wanda Lee Rogers Stanberry
Wanda Lee Rogers Stanberry, 79, formerly of La Porte, died at her home in Burnet March 8, 2010. She was born April 12, 1930, in Nashville, Ark., to Roy Green Rogers and Basil Newport (Blevins) Rogers.
“Lulu” (a term of endearment from family members) grew up in Corpus Christi. On April 16, 1955, she married Richard Thomas Stanberry in Corpus Christi. The couple remained in the Houston area, raising their family until they retired and moved to Burnet in 1990.
She was an avid homemaker and decorator. People came from miles around to seek her advice and expertise on wedding planning. She supported her husband’s career and his love of woodworking with all her heart. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She had a wonderful sense of humor, and her laughter was captivating. She was a godly lady and never compromised her beliefs. She walked the walk every day of her life.
In addition to her husband of Burnet, survivors include son Roy Randolph Stanberry of Burnet; daughters Karen Sue Culp and husband Jay of Deer Park, and Kelly Lee Trusky and husband Chris of League City; brother Winfred Rogers of Corpus Christi; and grandchildren Mindy Culp, Debra Culp, Sara Safadi, Emily Trusky, Thomas Trusky and Matthew Trusky.
She was preceded in death by infant children Debra Joy Stanberry and Richard Thomas Stanberry Jr.
A memorial service is 10 a.m. March 11 at the Oaks West Church of Christ, with Josh Lankford and Dan Shipley officiating.
