Leo N. Shaver Jr., 85, of Horseshoe Bay died Feb. 23, 2010. Born Dec. 25, 1924, in Salisbury, N.C., he was the son of Leo and Pearl (Stroupe) Shaver.

He graduated from high school in Rockwell, N.C., in 1941, attended Pfeiffer University in Misenheimer, N.C., and graduated from Benjamin Franklin University in Washington, D.C. in 1948.

He owned a certified public accounting firm in Houston for a number of  years. He had been a friend and business associate of Norman Hurd since 1954 and a resident of Horseshoe Bay since 1979. He was the CPA for Horseshoe Bay Resort until his retirement in 1991.

He was a charter member of The Church at Horseshoe Bay.

Survivors include his sister Betty Lou Williams and niece Leslie and nephew Lee Williams, all of Charlotte, N.C. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Doris Mae Shaver in 1984.

A memorial service is 11 a.m. Friday at The Church at Horseshoe Bay, 600 Hi Ridge in Horseshoe Bay, with Pete Christy and Johnny White officiating.
