Scribbled bomb threat in bathroom empties school

MARBLE FALLS — The 1,100 students of Marble Falls High School got an unscheduled early release from classes Monday after a note on a bathroom wall sparked the school’s first bomb threat in more than six years.
Officers from the Marble Falls Police Department spent just under an hour searching the campus for explosives after school officials found the bomb threat in the text of the scribbled graffiti during a routine sweep of the campus.
Marble Falls Independent School District Superintendent Ryder Warren said the threat was announced around 2:45 p.m. Monday. He said school officials immediately evacuated the campus.
“Before you can educate the kids, you have to make sure they’re safe,” Warren said. “That’s our first priority.”
Warren said students were evacuated a few minutes before the end of classes, adding parents were allowed to pick up their children while officials waited on the results of the search.
Both students and facility handled the situation well, he added.
“I’m proud of both our kids and the teachers and faculty for the job they did,” Warren said.
The school was declared clear of danger at about 3:45 p.m.
