Cowboy & Cowgirl Christmas Ball comes to the Uptown

MARBLE FALLS — Fun, frolic and some boot-tapping tunes are promised during the Cowboy & Cowgirl Christmas Ball featuring Mike Blakely and Pauline Reese at the Uptown Marble Theater.

Blakely, who has just written a novel with country recording great Willie Nelson, is the host of the 8 p.m. Saturday concert at the theater, 218 Main St.

Playing the part of the cowboy, Blakely will be joined by “cowgirl” Reese, the singer with a new CD, according to promoters.

This will be her first concert performance since the recent birth of her first child, officials said.

Joining them for some Cowboy Christmas Poetry is another favorite son, Brad Collins,  and filling out the “Whiskey Traders Band,” aka Y Los Yahoos, are guitarist Larry Nye  and bass player and favorite sidekick Donnie Price.

Door prizes will be given to the “best-dressed” patrons, so get out your silver canes and petticoats and come have a great holiday evening, promoters said. They also said the concert is a perfect time to pick up CDs, books and T-shirts for last-minute Christmas presents with a local flavor.

Reese is known as one of the hardest-working artists in the state, sharing the bill with everyone from Nelson to Pat Green and Roger Creager.

She has been nominated for “Western Swing Female Vocalist of the Year” by the Academy of Western Artists, and has released four CDs, the most recent being “Rolling Stone.”

With her band and powerful vocal style, and an undying appreciation of true-to-the-roots country-and-western music, Reese is a natural fit across the state and anywhere good music is treasured, sponsors said.

Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door and $20 for limited table seating.

Tickets are available online at  www.uptownmarble.com; at the R-Bar & Grill, 904 Third St.; or by calling the theater at (830) 693-9996.
