BUCHANAN DAM — Donations are still needed for one of the Highland Lakes’ largest and oldest flea markets, which benefits the Buchanan Dam Volunteer Fire Department and the Red Barn Center.

The annual Lake Buchanan  Barbecue is 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Sept. 20 at the Lake Buchanan Community Center, 2407 Texas 261.

In addition to barbecue with all the trimmings, visitors can browse the largest flea market in the area and buy some homemade items.

“Usually it’s a pretty good flea market,” said Ida Williamson, one of the organizers. She has participated in the flea market for several years.

There also will be entertainment on the patio, a raffle and a silent auction.

Pre-event tickets are $9 for adults and $5 for children. They can be purchased at the Llano National Bank, Lake Buchanan branch, 8600 RR 1431; and from all firefighters.

At the door, tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for kids.

Also, a blood mobile will be on site to accept donations between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
