LLANO — A battle of the bands fundraiser to benefit Llano resident and cancer patient Kimberlee Williams is set for Oct. 25.

The event is 9 a.m.-midnight at the Llano Rodeo Arena, two miles west of Llano on RR 152.

Williams, 32, is in the fight for her life against synovial sarcoma, a soft-tissue cancer currently in both of her lungs, friends said. The mother of two boys, ages 4 and 13, is undergoing her fourth year of chemotherapy, and it has taken a toll on the family’s financial situation.

Several Texas bands representing several styles of musical genres are lined up to compete in a single battle for Williams.

Competing bands include, but are not limited to, Daniel Conti and Drawing Back, Marble Falls; Southern Underground, Buchanan Dam; The Hudson Brothers, Marble Falls; Turncoat, Austin; Wide Open Throttle, Houston; Jordann Mitchell, Austin; The Texas Drag Queens, College Station; The Texas Kings, Lipan; The Anthill Society, Austin; and the featured band Binge from Temple. Several guest judges round out a day of family entertainment.

Vendor spaces are still available and additional sponsors and donors are welcome, organizers said.

There are still a few time slots available for bands that may be interested in some great prizes and cash. Be on the lookout for the Battle of the Bands 4 Kim street crews Oct. 18 in Marble Falls, Llano and Burnet.

They will be hanging flyers and handing out wristbands and discount gate coupons.

Admission to the event is $7 before 11 a.m. and $10 after 11 a.m. for ages 5 and up. Children under 5 are free and all children must be accompanied by an adult.
