Ring in the holidays with Harmony School of Creative Arts
Rehearsals are on Mondays from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the school, 1503 Mormon Mill Road. This involves singing and dancing and is augmented by some adult extras.
Join Harmony’s Orchestra Department Dec. 7 at 6 p.m. for its third annual Christmas Celebration at Lakeside Pavilion, 307 Buena Vista Drive. Featured are the Highland Lakes String Orchestra, the Chamber Orchestra, and Suzuki String students, both from Harmony and the community engagement project through Boys & Girls Club of Highland Lakes, as well as Camp Phoenix. Special guests include the First United Methodist Church Chancel Choir and Harmony voice faculty. Selections include Corelli’s Christmas Concerto, excerpts from Handel’s “Messiah,” and traditional Christmas carols. A pre-concert lecture is in the works with Dr. Robert Linder at 5:30 p.m.
Guests are encouraged to bring non-perishables for the Helping Center, as the program is free.
Harmony’s Dance Department presents “Fantasy Nutcracker.” It’s the traditional story, told in Harmony’s own way with students and a few adult extras. Every year the choreography is adapted to suit the particular complexion of dance students enrolled for the fall. A few young dancers from the Johnson City studio will join the cast, which numbers about 120. This production also involves a large number of teen and adult volunteers.
Performances are Dec. 13, at 6 p.m. and Dec. 14 at 2 p.m., at Marble Falls High School Auditorium, 2101 Mustang Drive. Advance tickets are $12 adults and $6 ages 4 – 12. Tickets at the door are $15 adults and $7 for ages 4 – 12. Proceeds will benefit the scholarship fund.
