H-E-B launches ‘Stock Up and Give’ promotion

Through Dec. 2, residents can visit their neighborhood H-E-B and participate in the 2008 H-E-B and Procter & Gamble “Stock Up and Give” promotion.

With each purchase of Bounty, Cascade, Charmin, Crest, Duracell, Downy, Febreze, Folgers, Gain, IAMS, Luvs, Pantene, Pringles, Swiffer or Tide products, a $1 donation will be made to the local area food bank servicing the area where the donation is collected, up to $50,000.

In most instances, for every $1 donated, meals can be provided to feed a family of up to six people — a meal that certainly will be most welcome during the approaching holiday season.

“Food banks across the nation are facing a dire situation, one that finds more families in need of assistance but community donations being far less because of the current economic upheaval,” said Danny Flores, manager of H-E-B public affairs.

In Texas, the situation is no different. Hurricane Ike saw Texas food banks jump into action to provide meals to displaced families and individuals at emergency shelters. Food banks now are low on supplies.

“So many in our community will be in need of assistance this holiday season and while our Texas food banks are doing what they can, they need our help,” Flores said. “We invite our customers to participate in ‘Stock Up & Give’ and make a difference one purchase at a time.”
