Grand jury set to hear infant-death case Nov. 6

Jossalyn Thomason, the daughter of Marcus Thomason and Erin Almager, was found dead in the family’s Marble Falls apartment Sept. 25.
Assistant District Attorney Cheryl Nelson said Friday it will be up to the grand jury to determine whether there is enough evidence to issue an indictment or indictments.
“We have just received the (autopsy) report from the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office, and we are preparing it for submission to the grand jury on Nov. 6,” Nelson told The Daily Tribune. “The case will be fully presented to the grand jurors, who will certainly look at any criminal charges.”
The infant died from asphyxiation, according to a preliminary autopsy report from the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office. 
The autopsy didn’t turn up any signs of physical trauma, Marble Falls Police Capt. Floyd Goodwin said.
Officers were called to the couple’s apartment on Avenue N around noon after the baby’s family told dispatchers the infant wasn’t breathing, reports show.
Though no charges have been filed in the baby’s death, Marcus Thomason was arrested by Burnet County sheriff’s deputies Sept. 28 on a 2007 warrant charging him with aggravated sexual assault of a child. Thomason was taken into custody after he dug his daughter’s grave at the Marble Falls City Cemetery, police said. 
He was released after posting a $100,000 bond.
