AARP Driver Safety Program has 2-for-1 special this month

The first session is Nov. 10-11 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days, with lunch available, at the Highland Lakes Senior Center, 35 Chamberlain St., Kingsland. The second session is Nov. 18-19 from  9 a.m. to 1 p.m., both days, at the First United Methodist Church, 1101 Bluebonnet Dr., Marble Falls.

This is the nation’s first and largest classroom refresher for motorists age 50 and older, officials said.

AARP members or staff can bring a friend or relative to the classroom course and pay for just one, a 50 percent savings. To receive this offer, AARP members must show their card or staff ID badge upon arrival on the first day of the class.

“The course is especially designed for older drivers and addresses changes in our physical bodies, as well as changes in the driving world and helps develop strategies to compensate for those changes,” said Instructor Laura Orr.

“The course is a review of skills and techniques as well as an update on current rules of the road.”

Completion of the class may qualify students for an auto insurance discount.
