Lady Pups celebrate spotless season

Coach Jenny Swick said the success of the team is because of the hard work of the athletes.

“These players not only developed their skill in volleyball to beat their opponents on the court, they were able to defeat distractions, drama and self-doubt and pour themselves into working as a team,” she said. “Every player also worked hard to stay on top of her school work. We did not lose any players this season.”

Team members included Jimena Lopez, Brittney Barksdale, Baylee Jones, Sarah Dickehut, Mandi Cockrell, Hannah Hazlewood, Mandee Harris, Becca Davis, Haylee Copeland, Ryan Winkler, Landree Thompson and Kaylyn Drake.

The team went 8-0 in matches not in tournament play. They only dropped two sets in the process.

Besides the players, Swick also credited others for the squad’s accomplishments.

“Thanks to all the parents, coaches, administrators and others who cheered us on,” she said. “This is a great group of girls and it was a pleasure to work with them.”
