Broadway-bound musical at HCCT benefits day school
New York composer/playwright Luce Amen, who grew up in San Antonio, will give a one-hour presentation of songs selected from the musical.
The drama is inspired by the 500-year-old story of the humble Aztec peasant Juan Diego and his encounter with Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe. The show, with sights set on an eventual Broadway performance, presents a rich tapestry of mariachi, contemporary flamenco, rock, pop and dramatic ballads, organizers said.
The musical has been presented to audiences as a one-woman show during 22 performances in Mexico City, San Antonio, Dallas, San Diego and New York City.
Tickets are $100. The price includes pre-show cocktails, the performance and the “Meet the Artist” reception after the show. Seating is limited and is first-come, first served.
The show is 2:30-3:30 p.m., with cocktails at 2 p.m. The theater box office is at 4003 FM 2147. The Web site is www.hcct.org.
The day school is at 136 Northridge in Marble Falls. The phone is (830) 693-7007.
