Even though the score seems one-sided the Bullpups had many opportunities to make it a game, coaches said. The biggest obstacle for the Bullpups was taking care of the football, they added.

Bullpup Adrian Corona took the opening kick 28 yards before being called out of bounds.

Burnet managed a few first downs to move the ball into Llano territory before punting.

On Llano’s first possession, the Daubers had trouble moving the ball on the swarming Burnet defense.

The Daubers mishandled a snap on the punt and were tackled around the Llano 32.

Following a personal foul on Llano, the Bullpups began their second drive starting at the 18.  However, Burnet fumbled on the next play, and Llano ran it back for an 87-yard touchdown.

Later in the second quarter the Bullpups fumbled again deep in their own territory that set up the Daubers for their second score. Offensively, Burnet had trouble moving the ball and holding on to it, coaches said, including several big drops and fumbles. Colton Rockafellow and Kenneth Wisian hooked up twice in the game for big passes of 42 and 34 yards. Braiden Bannister and Spencer Ray had several runs behind Adam Gregg, Colin Ratliff, Justin Parrot, Austin Mullins and Chris Flores.

Defensively, the Bullpups played fairly well, coaches said, but noted they gave up a few long runs that resulted in touchdowns and the defense had to work with a short field the whole night.

B.J. Walker was outstanding on the defensive line and dominated anyone who got in his way, coaches said.  Zach Bobo, Bryan Everett, J.J. Benavidez, Chris Brobst, Shawn Chambers, Faron Nichols, Cody Nodecker, Blaine Schilling, Aaron Bostic, Ronnie Dean, Spencer O’Boyle, Will Kyle, Logan Lopez and Dominic Garcia made outstanding plays that held the Daubers’ Slot-T in check, they said.

Keenan Murchison, Chris Reyes, Jordon Poe, Jake Boyd and Taylor Benitz played outstanding on the offensive side, coaches said, and made great blocks to help spring the running game.
