911 system restored in Llano County after storm; some power outages reported

LLANO — The 911 system for Llano County is back online about a day after a powerful storm knocked out emergency communications, officials said.

"As of 3:40 p.m. (May 8), we are back operational," said Llano County Judge Wayne Brascom.

The storm blew through the Highland Lakes after 5 p.m. May 7, bringing with it heavy rains, high winds, power outages and fallen trees.

LLANO — Emergency crews rescued a 13-year-old Austin boy after a 25-foot fall at Enchanted Rock State Natural Area during Easter weekend, officials said.

According to reports, the teen, who suffered at least one broken bone, fell into a crevice just after 4 p.m. April 6 in an area known as "Little Rock," located behind the park's campground.

LLANO — The family of a 16-year-old girl missing after meeting a "talent agent" through a vampire-Goth website is hoping somebody can help them find the teenager.

Julia Hinton's family hasn't seen her since 1 p.m. March 23, they said.

LLANO — After the Llano Yellowjackets football team managed only a single win in 2011, district leadership decided to make a change in the program.

And the casualty — head coach and athletic director David Yeager.

His departure is not the only one announced by the Llano Independent School District Feb. 22. A campus administrator, an assistant superintendent and a band director also are leaving for various reasons.

Realtor Clayton T. Leverett joins race for Llano County Commissioners Court

LLANO — Realtor and rancher Clayton T. Leverett  is joining the race for the Llano County Precinct 1 commissioner's seat.

Other Republican candidates vying to succeed retiring Commissioner Johnnie B. Heck are Jerry Campbell, Tom Engler and Peter Jones.

"If elected, I will dedicate my best efforts to efficiently managing taxpayer dollars while providing quality services to all constituents," Leverett said in a prepared statement.

Leverett is a real estate sales associate at RE/MAX Llano, 1000 Ford St.
