FROM STAFF REPORTS
MARBLE FALLS — H-E-B shoppers wanting more choices and space are going to get those when the Texas grocery chain builds a new and bigger store in Marble Falls.
Officials announced plans for the new store next to the current H-E-B, 1503 RR 1431. The current store will remain open until the new structure is completed.
“This is a tremendous opportunity to give our customers what they deserve: a larger variety of products and more shopping space,” said David Crail, H‑E‑B Marble Falls Unit director. “Our customers in Marble Falls have been incredibly patient and are deserving of a brand new H‑E‑B neighborhood store that expresses our appreciation for their loyalty. We look forward to building a shopping experience to the area that provides a one-stop shop with the best quality, freshness and lowest prices for our shoppers.”
H-E-B opened the current store in 1990 at 82,104 square feet. Officials said H-E-B has spent nearly $7 million on improvements and upgrades to the structure but pointed out that, with the area growing, the company felt it was time for a new store.
Officials didn’t offer the size of the new structure or a completion date. H-E-B is just starting the land engineering research and store design process.
Once the new store is completed, the current story will be razed to make room for additional parking.
Currently, a Beall’s department store is located adjacent to H-E-B.
State and city crews are in the process of rerouting Bluebonnet Drive, located just east of H-E-B, across RR 1431 to connect with Avenue N.
