Avis “Al” Sibert, 83, of Tow died July 7, 2012. He was born in Comanche on Sept. 18, 1928, to Rufus and Elizabeth (Ripley) Sibert.

He was a veteran of the Navy and had been a resident of Tow since 1998 after moving from Granbury. He was a member of the Hill Country Singles Club and enjoyed chuck wagon cooking.

He married Lola Pauline Scheller in 1948. After her death, he married Ramona Jo Cabral in 1973.

Survivors include daughters Belinda Brown and husband Tommy Tosh of Apache, Okla., Gloria Buchanan and husband Bob of Tow, Betty Bordelon and husband Ronnie of Breckenridge and Ava Peterson and husband Bill of Abilene; stepdaughter Sherry Hinkle of Lamesa; sons Harold Sibert and wife Georgia of Dalhart and Aaron Lee Sibert of Abilene; stepson Gary Cabral of Texas; sister Eva McDonald of Littlefield; 19 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and special friend Carol Swearigen of Buchanan Dam.

He was preceded in death by first wife Lola in 1973; second wife Ramona in 1997; his parents; two brothers; and one sister.

A memorial service is 11 a.m. July 11 at First Baptist Church in Tow with the Rev. Jerald Moore officiating.
