Harold E. McAda, 79, of Llano died May 21, 2012. He was born in Lockney on Nov. 21, 1932, to Arthur and Martha (Buth) McAda.

He was a resident of Llano since 1983 after moving there from Copperas Cove. He married June Carolyn Drake on July 2, 1955, in Clark County, Ind.

He served in the Army in Vietnam and retired after 23 years. He was a Purple Heart recipient and achieved the rank of first sergeant (E-8).

He was of the Baptist faith and worked for the city of Copperas Cove as street superintendant for several years after retiring from the military. He loved fixing things around the house as well as for others, and he also loved fishing and camping in his earlier years.

Survivors include son Rodney McAda of Llano; daughters Sherry Pollog of San Antonio, Lorelei Evans and husband Martin and Amy Drake and husband Rob, all of Llano; grandchildren Susan, Rachel, Felicia, Patrick and Sarah; numerous nieces and nephews; and his blue-eyed dog Jasper.

He was preceded in death by his wife on Jan. 17, 1998; parents; one brother; and three sisters.

A military graveside service with the Highland Lakes Honor Guard is 10 a.m. May 24 at Bluffton Cemetery with the Rev. Jerald Moore officiating.
