Ruby Jewel Amidon

Ruby Jewel Amidon, 96, of Burnet died May 7, 2012. She was born in the Jollyville Community of Travis County on Oct. 15, 1915, to Booker and Kate (Hamilton) Bird.
As a homemaker, she enjoyed sewing and canning. She was a faithful Christian who belonged to Victory Baptist Church.
She was known to many as “Mom.”
Survivors include sons Calvert Amidon and wife Ruth of Proctor and Doyle Amidon of Burnet; daughter Kathryn Dooley and husband Buster of Burnet; 15 grandchildren; numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by husband Wilburn; sons Gilbert, Carl and Willis; six brothers; three sisters; and one great-grandson.
A visitation is 6-8 p.m. May 9 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 306 Texas 29 East in Burnet, (512) 756-2222. A service is 10 a.m. May 10 at the funeral home with the Rev. James Hoover officiating. Interment will follow at Bear Creek Cemetery in Bertram.
Pallbearers include Allen Dooley, Dan Dooley, Bryan Dooley, Russell Tschoerner, Craig Tschoerner and Charles Amidon III. Honorary pallbearer is Leslie Holder.
