I.C. ‘Sug’ Mazurek

I.C. “Sug” Mazurek, 89, of Kingsland died April 21, 2012. He was born in Bandera on Sept. 18, 1922, to John Frank and Mary Magdalene (Haiduk) Mazurek.
He was a resident of Bluffton for 30 years, moving there from San Antonio.
Of the Catholic faith, he married Vel Canellis in January 1945 in Bandera. He later married Gloria McDaniels on Dec. 2, 1972, in Llano
He was a veteran of the Navy, receiving the Presidential Unit Citation for heroism during World War II. He also was a member of the American Legion of Llano.
Survivors include daughter Sherry Thrash and husband Phillip Anderson of Burnet; stepson Mitchell R. Self of Dallas; sister-in-law Sophia Mazurek of Kerrville; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Gloria in 2009; parents; two brothers; a sister; and son Ronnie C. Mazurek.
A graveside service is 11 a.m. April 28 at the Bluffton Cemetery with the Rev. Paul Thomsen officiating.
