Glyn Dalton Brizendine, 67, of Burnet died April 10, 2012, at the Oaks Nursing Center from complications due to dementia. He was born in Burnet County on Dec. 15, 1944, to Eddie and Edith (Champlin) Brizendine.

He attended school in Burnet but quit before graduating to start barber school. He worked for a short time as a barber before deciding it was not the job for him. He then became a survey crew member for Pedernales Electric Cooperative, working there for 17 years before being injured while on the job. After five failed back surgeries, he took disability retirement in 1980.

He enjoyed puttering in the yard, even if he had to move his chair around from one place to the other to get his planting done. He loved pets, and especially his dog Happy.

He loved to laugh with you and sometimes at you — if you bumped your head or stubbed your toe.

Survivors include his mother Edith; brother Lelwin Brizendine of Austin; sister Betty Smith and husband Steve of Bertram; niece Renee Yates and husband Lonnie; nephews Philip Brizendine, Brent Smith and wife Tammy and Blake Smith; great-niece Taylor Yates; and great-nephews Kyle Brizendine, Cody Smith and Trevor Smith.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1974.

A service is 11 a.m. April 12 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 306 Texas 29 East in Burnet with the Rev. Max Copeland officiating. Interment will follow at Brizendine Family Cemetery at Gabriel Mills.

Pallbearers include Brent Smith, Blake Smith, Trevor Smith, Philip Brizendine, Kyle Brizendine and Jamie Brizendine.
