John Thomas Watson Jr., 62, of Granite Shoals died Jan. 30, 2012. He was born in Blanco on June 30, 1949.

He was raised in Hye and graduated from LBJ High School in Johnson City. After graduation, he served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War.

He spent many years raising turkey and then became a floor layer across Central Texas. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed gardening, camping, hunting and fishing, especially in West Texas and at his family property in Hye.

He had an incredible amount of love for his family and was a beloved son, brother, father and grandfather who will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to have known him.

Survivors include the mother of his nine children, Ida Watson; children Trey Watson of Stonewall, Jim Watson of Fredericksburg, Tim Watson and wife Tanya of Hye, Terry Watson of San Marcos, Sandra Vasquez and husband Juan of Granite Shoals, Nancy Redwine Watson of Austin, Brandy Sheble and husband Kevin of Oak Harbour, Wash., George Watson of Ohio and Gerald Watson and fiancée Heather Heavner of Fredericksburg; parents Thomas and Dora Watson of Hye; sisters Edna Whisenant of Marble Falls, Debbie Gibson and husband Roger of Granite Shoals and Barbara Bryant and husband Jim Bob of Austin; grandchildren Stacy, Sierra, T.J., Dakotah, Rylie, Chase, Ryan, Tiffany, Merysa, Kevin, Jose, Anna, Rebeka, Hunter, Hayden and Myles; great-grandchild Cameron; and numerous nieces, nephews and loved ones.

He was preceded in death by daughter Tammy Ann Watson.

A memorial service is 11 a.m. Feb. 18 at Rocky Community Church in Blanco County on Rocky Road, which is CR 205.
