Penny Martinez, 48, died Feb. 2, 2012. She was born Oct. 6, 1963 in Florence , Ariz., the second child of Larry and Shirley Rowe.

They lived in Florence for 22 years and then she moved to Texas. She went to Florence High School and Florence Community College. She then went to work for a local judge as a secretary.

 

Over the years, she also worked for Redman Homes and Gould.In 1983 Penny met Robert Martinez; they married in June 1984.

They had three children Cecilia, Daniel, and Marissa and stepson Brandon.  Last year, the couple celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary.

In 1991 she was diagnosed with lupus and only given 10 years to live, but with great determination she blessed friends and relatives with 10 more years of great memories.

She was a devoted wife, mother and friend to all who entered her home. She often enjoyed entertaining guests and cooking her famous super nachos or homemade green enchiladas.

Friends and family will cherish their memories of the couple in their garage playing pool, playing  cards, listening to music and enjoying her great cooking.

The greatest joy in her life was her granddaughter Riley.

She was a fun-loving person. She was filled with great love and humor and always seemed to find a way to make light of any situation.

A memorial service is 2 p.m. Feb. 4 at Hill Country Fellowship Church, 200 Houston Clinton Drive in Burnet.
