Harold Zane Houghton, 74, died Jan. 16, 2012, in his home. He was born Oct. 17, 1937, in Morton.

He loved music and played the drums, but was an electrician by profession. He enjoyed his time with family and friends. He lived in the Hill Country that he loved for 30 years and called it home. He will be deeply missed by everyone who loved him.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years Gwen Houghton; sons Eddie Houghton and Craig Houghton and wife Katerina; daughters Sissie Daughtry and Johnnye Faye Mourer and husband Kris;  grandchildren Billy Joe, Brandon and wife Jessica, Jesseca and Travis; five great-grandchildren; brother Jack “Wimpy” Houghton and wife; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Champion and Verna Mae (Oakes) Houghton; five sisters; and four brothers.

A graveside service is 2 p.m. Jan. 19 at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park with the Rev. Joanie Jackson officiating.

Pallbearers include Brandon Daughtry, Travis Mourer, Roy Dell, Jason Evans, Butch Smith and Gary Morris.

Honorary pallbearers are Mitchell Houghton, Lyndel Moore and Glenn Phillips.

Memorials can be made to the American Heart Association or a charity or organization of choice.
