Mildred Mae ‘Millie’ Stanley

Mildred Mae “Millie” Stanley, 78, of Sunrise Beach and formerly of Houston, died Nov. 10, 2011. She was born to Paul and Ruth (Notting) Reeb on Aug. 20, 1933, in St. Louis.
She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Marble Falls and a past member of Genesis Lutheran Church in Buchanan Dam. She loved to sing in the choir, quilt, sew, play cards and was an avid reader.
Her favorite hobby was shopping. She would take her five daughters on trips to different towns just to shop. One of her favorite phrases, which she may have coined, was “charge it.”
She had an incredible sense of humor and will be missed.
Survivors include daughters Marcia Strickler of Sunrise Beach, Ruth Stanley of Houston, Sue Turbeville and husband Danny of Groveton, Janet Holmes and husband Mark of Celina and Elaine Gates and husband John of Houston; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister Jean May and husband Alan of Tyler; and brother Alan Reeb and wife Lucille of Corpus Christi.
She was preceded in death by her son David Stanley; grandson Coley Turbeville; great-granddaughters Lauren and Meagan Moreno; and son-in-law, Michael Strickler.
A memorial service was Nov. 14 at Genesis Lutheran Church in Buchanan Dam with the Rev. Bruce Drees officiating.
