Donald Guy Parks
Donald Guy Parks, 86, of Burnet died Oct. 30, 2011. He was born in Antioch, Calif., on Feb. 14, 1925, to Ray and Julia Barnett Parks.
He married Elsie Looper Parks in 1967 and worked in Texas City for most of his career. He was most proud of his service to his country in the Army during World War II, having fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He received the Bronze Star.
He loved being a barber, sharing tales of the war and hearing patrons’ stories of their service in the war or events in their lives. He cherished the lasting friendships made through the years.
He was a faithful member of the Church of Christ and a 60-year member of the Masons.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Elsie Parks; sister Frances Garwood; and nieces Edythe, Shirley and Carol.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Roy Parks Jr.
A service will be held at a later date.
