James Melbourne Roberts, 72, of Horseshoe Bay died Oct. 30, 2011, at an Austin hospital surrounded by his family. He was born March 2, 1939, in Vandalia, Ill., to Grady Garner and Ouida Newsom Roberts.

He graduated  in 1959 from Peacock Military Academy in San Antonio. He founded LOBB Oil Co., Pacer Petroleum and LOBB Barbeque Restaurant. He also worked for the family business, Triangle Supply in Abilene.

On Aug. 2, 1977, he married Winifred Ruth Roberts and spent the rest of his days with his loving wife and children. He was an avid golfer, hunter, fisherman and loved “Disco Duck.”

In addition to his wife, survivors include children Angela Marie Camden and husband Garry of Horseshoe Bay, Kimberly Ann Lucas and husband Robert of Coppell, and John Anthony Nicholas and wife Greta of Carthage, Mo.; grandchildren David James Lucas, Nicholas Robert Lucas, Joseph Reese Nicholas and Benjamin John Nicholas; and brother Terry Roberts of Abilene.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Jerry.

The family will hold a private service.
