Gas prices rise across Texas but should fall once school starts

Texas gas prices have risen 1.4 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.84 a gallon Aug. 2, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 13,114 stations in the state. GasBuddy is the authoritative voice for gas prices and the only source for station-level data spanning nearly two decades.
Prices are driven by an increase in summer driving, according to GasBuddy, and are expected to decrease once schools open for classes in mid- to late August.
According to GasBuddy price reports, the cheapest gas in Texas is $2.49 a gallon and the most expensive is $3.49 a gallon, a $1 difference. Gas prices in Texas are 3.5 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and stand at 97.9 cents per gallon higher than a year ago.
