Helen Alma Enkelke Rose

Helen Alma Enkelke Rose, 83, of Marble Falls died Oct. 16, 2011. She was born in Washington County on Aug. 17, 1928, to Ernest and Alma (Folschinsky) Engelke.
She lived a full and successful life and was loved by her family and many friends.
At about 15 years old, she and her family moved to a farm in Cameron. Determined to finish high school, she walked or rode to school every day and graduated from Yoe High School in 1946.
In 1948, she married and had two children. When the marriage did not work out, she raised her boys as a single mother. She encouraged them, and both boys were given opportunities for positive growth through Boy Scouts, sports and church activities. The boys’ friends all were welcomed into her home.
She also was an amazing cook, and when her mother was placed in a nursing home because of blindness, she prepared a meal every day and took it to her.
She was a faithful member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Cameron, where she devoted time after retirement making angels to lift up others with her good friend Gayle. Her extensive angel collection decorated her home. She also loved praying and always included the many pets she knew by name.
She enjoyed helping and serving others and worked for 30 years at St. Edwards Hospital. When she moved to Marble Falls, she joined Trinity Episcopal Church. The church was close, and she expressed a wish that there was a sidewalk between her apartment and the church so she could go there more often and serve.
She was proud of being a mother, a grandmother and a great-grandmother. She loved politics and sports and could talk football with anyone. Even during her last days, she sent love to everyone she encountered.
Survivors include sons Dennis Rose and wife Linda of Marble Falls and Donald Rose of Amarillo; grandchildren Stuart Rose and wife Jennifer of Hewitt, Dr. Lisa Rose of Menlo Park, Calif., and Amanda Rose of Marble Falls; great-grandchildren Nathaniel Rose, Annaliese Rose, Zach Lancaster, Ben Lancaster and Rebecca Lancaster, all of Hewitt; and many nieces and nephews,
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Ernest, Henry and Robert Engelke; and sister Lillian Pemberton.
