Lee Roy Strayhorn Jr.

Lee Roy Strayhorn Jr., 93, of Llano died Oct. 10, 2011. He was born in Snyder on Sept. 4, 1918, to Roy and Duanna Strayhorn.
He graduated from Snyder High School and went to business college in San Antonio before moving to Llano to work for Ford Motor Co. He worked various jobs in Llano before retiring from G.T.E. after 33 years. Through the years, he also worked several part-time jobs, including as a janitor at the post office for 50 years.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Llano. He also was an avid gardener and was happiest working outside, even when pulling weeds.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years Roberta; daughters Frances Costner and husband Buzz and Carol Cunningham and husband Ron, all of Llano; brother Warren Strayhorn of Llano; sister Juanita Smith of San Antonio; grandchildren Cheryl Regmund, Craig Dearing, Niki Cockerham and Kathryn Cunningham, all of Llano; and great-grandchildren Clinton and Wesley Regmund and McKenzie, Jake and Kylie Cockerham.
Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Oct. 11 at Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home, 307 E. Sandstone in Llano, (325) 247-4300. A graveside service is 11 a.m. Oct. 12 at Llano City Cemetery in Llano with the Rev. Rick Cundieff officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, First Baptist Church of Llano or Lutie Watkins Memorial United Methodist Church.
