Carolyn Joyce Walker Laxson
Carolyn Joyce Walker Laxson, 62, of Buchanan Dam died Oct. 3, 2011. She was born in Belton on Feb. 22, 1949, to W.L. “Bubby” and Betty Joyce (Johnson) Walker.
She married Eddy “Spoons” Laxson on Nov. 25, 1993, in Harker Heights. She was an active member of Buchanan West Baptist Church and the Buchanan Dam Volunteer Fire Department. She also was involved with the mixed adults Sunday school class, was a mentor at Packsaddle Elementary School and served on the Red Barn community center board.
Survivors include her husband; mother; sons Douglas DeAngelo and wife April of San Antonio, Eddy Laxson Jr. and wife Jessica of Temple and Richard Lee Laxson of Waco; daughter Heidi Marie Brackett and husband Donny of Eddy; grandchildren Devon DeAngelo, Jonathan DeAngelo, Brandon DeAngelo, Daniel Brackett, Sarah Elizabeth Brackett and Elijah Brackett; sister Rhonda Greger of Rosebud; brother Mark Hoelscher of West Phalia; aunt Mary Nell Wilhite of Belton; numerous nieces and nephews; cousins; and extended family including the Buchanan West Baptist Church family; Dottie Arzola Segovia of San Antonio; Balt, Colleen, Jason, Jessica and Jaden Napolez of Kingsland; Peggy Malarkey of Buchanan Dam; and Tabitha, T.J. and Colton Bailey of Buchanan Dam.
She was preceded in death by her father; grandparents Douglas “Papa” and Mary “Momma” Johnson; and sister Nancy McGough.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Oct. 7 at Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home, 900 Industrial Blvd. in Kingsland, (325) 388-6767. A service is 10 a.m. Oct. 8 at Buchanan West Baptist Church, 850 Lillian Dean in Buchanan Dam, with the Rev. John Taylor officiating.
Pallbearers include Bobby Lambright, T.J. Bailey, Jerry Winger, Mark Hutson, David Lackey, Tommy Phillips and Billy Townsend. Honorary pallbearers include the deacons of Buchanan West Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Buchanan Dam West Baptist Church.
