Lawrence “Larry” Burkhart, 75, of Burnet died Sept. 30, 2011. He was born on Oct. 9, 1935, in Long Beach, Calif., the son of Valentine and Emma Burkhart.

He served in the Navy during the Korean War. He worked with an executive with Peterbilt Trucking and president and chief executive officer of Canadian Kenworth.

He enjoyed gardening, travel, cooking and collecting objects of fine art.

He was loved and will be missed.

Survivors include his life partner Yvonne Evans of Burnet; daughters Holly Gilthorpe of California, Lee Anne Cmelak of Tennessee and Valorie Leeb of Maryland; stepchildren Steve and wife Fatima and Sheryl; grandchildren Luca, Chloe, Brittney, Brandon, Makenna, Clayton and Caeden.

A memorial service is 2 p.m. Oct. 8 at First Christian Church in Burnet.

Gifts may be made to the Hill Country Children’s Advocacy Center, to First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) or to a charity of choice.
