Tressie Mae Prince, 89, of Burnet died Sept. 7, 2011.  She was born Feb. 11, 1922, in Linn Flat, Nacogdoches County, to Henry James Wilkerson and Ofa Mae Owens Wilkerson.

She was the last survivor of 11 siblings.

She married Milam L. Prince Sept. 23, 1939. They lived in the Silver Creek Community for many years.

The couple built, owned and for 20 years operated Prince’s Grocery at Silver Creek. She was a member of the Silver Creek Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 425.

During her career as a licensed vocational nurse, she worked in Beaumont and at Shepperd Memorial Hospital in Burnet.

She was known as “Grandma Buddy” to her grandchildren.

Survivors include daughter Shirley Hall and husband Greg of Burnet; son Milam L. Prince Jr. and wife Susan; and grandchildren Clint Hall, Greg Hall II, Debbie Hamby, Gail Prince, Becky Prince, Melissa Prince, Stephanie Prince and Trey Prince; and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband and son Jerry Prince.

A graveside service and burial was Sept. 9 at the Lakeland Hills Memorial Park.
