Eunice Amy Gold Petrich

Eunice Amy Gold Petrich, 86, and known to loved ones as “Gigi,” died Aug. 27, 2011. She was born Nov. 8, 1924, in New Braunfels to Gardie Gottlieb Gold and Etta Reeh Gold.
She married John Robert Petrich Jr. in San Antonio on July 24, 1946. They were married for 60 years and raised three children.
It was at her urging that her husband attained his Bachelor of Science in engineering from the University of Texas after his Navy service during World War II. As his career advanced, they lived in Austin, Port Lavaca, San Antonio, Wichita, Kansas and Omaha, Neb.
After retirement, the couple returned home to Texas in 1985, settling in Horseshoe Bay. She was a loving wife, a devoted mother, a talented and creative homemaker, a wonderful seamstress, an enthusiastic volunteer and a great friend to many.
Survivors include children Gayle Ely and husband Chuck of Horseshoe Bay, Cynthia Neesen and husband Frank of David City, Neb., and Paul Petrich and wife Julie of Windermere, Fla.; grandchildren Coni Guerin and husband Christopher, John Ely and wife Jen, Evan Neesen and wife Becci, Ian Neesen, Owen Neesen, Sara Petrich, Katie Petrich and Madison Petrich; and great-grandchildren Addison Neesen, Ari Neesen and Campbell Guerin; and sister Jeanette McLeod and husband Dick of Cupertino, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated 9 a.m. Aug. 31 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 201 Dalton Circle in Horseshoe Bay.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Building Fund or a charity of choice.
