Linnard Griffin

Linnard Griffin, 67, of Bertram died July 3, 2011. He was born in Austin Aug. 8, 1943, the youngest of three sons of Elmer and Mary Ann (Choate) Griffin.
He always had a passion for living life to the fullest. He was always thinking and dreaming. This enthusiasm led him from careers in the Air Force and Air National Guard as an aircraft mechanic, to several stints in the construction business, to being an officer for the Austin Police Department and ultimately to chiropractic school and a career as a chiropractor.
He married Sharon Dec. 19, 1964. They were blessed with a son and a daughter.
After he retired as a chiropractor in 2005, he and his wife enjoyed building and refurbishing airplanes. In his last retirement career, he researched new ways to generate hydrogen and held nine hydrogen-related patents.
His passions included flying, fishing and great food. He lived and loved large. He was a good, thoughtful Christian who dearly loved and cherished his family and friends.
In addition to his wife, survivors include brothers Lonnie Griffin and wife Claudine Griffin and Leon Griffin and wife Delores; sister Bonnie Becker and husband Richard; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son Linnard Griffin Jr.; and daughter Leanne Griffin.
A memorial service is 10 a.m. July 8 at the Joppa Community Church with the reverends Ryan Schmidt and Guy Jolin.
A graveside service follows at 1 p.m. at the Bagdad Cemetery in Leander.
