Burnet freshmen 18, Taylor 12

BURNET — Though both teams scored on their opening drives Sept. 27, the Bulldogs relied on their defense for timely stops during the game, coaches said.

“The defense played extremely hard,” coach Tim Hulon said.

Offensively, the Bulldogs scored when they had to, he said, scoring the winning drive late in the game.

Burnet suffered some costly penalties and turnovers, Hulon said.

ON OFFENSE: Quarterback Austin Moore hit Joel Johnson for a 65-yard touchdown pass for the winning score with 40 seconds left in the contest.

ON DEFENSE: Cullen Ferrill, Gabe Tercero, Trent Rockafellow, Rawley Jackson, Keedrick Hill, Wesley Shackelford, Oscar Perez, Tristan Briggs, Brock Foster, Peyton Utsey and Austin Moore

QUOTABLE: “The Bulldogs played hard and physical for the entire game and played the best game they have played all all year,” Hulon said.

LLANO — The Daubers started a winning streak thanks to a productive offense and a stingy defense that forced several three-and-outs Sept. 27, coaches said.

ON OFFENSE: Dylan Green had touchdown runs of 39 and 48 yards and a 2-point conversion run. Shawn Kiser had a two-yard run and a 2-point conversion run.

Llano 7th White 14, Fredericksburg 12

LLANO — The Daubers’ biggest play might have been the completion from quarterback Josh Soliz to Justus Honea that allowed Llano to run out the clock and preserve the win Sept. 27.

Llano led 14-6 at the half, and the defense stopped the 2-point conversion to preserve the lead.

TOP PLAYERS: Josh Soliz had a touchdown run of 15 yards and a 47-yard pass completion to Justus Honea.

ON OFFENSE: Running back Ben Walling scored on a 2-point run. Also: Linemen Ray Dixon, Austin Humphrey, Forrest Mize, Paul O’Brian and Gabriel Pincelli
