Jacob Kalisvaart Jr.Jacob “Jake” Kalisvaart Jr., 84, of Highland Haven, Texas, passed away March 14, 2017. He was born to Jacob and Elizabeth (Zidervaart) Kalisvaart on Sept. 10, 1932, in Long Beach, California.

After proudly serving the United States of America in the Army, Jake became a truck driver by profession and traveled all over the country. He enjoyed his children, and upon finding out there was not a girls softball team in La Mirada, California, he started one for his daughters. He was city councilman for the city of La Mirada, California, and also served as its mayor. Jake also was a city councilmen for the city of Highland Haven and served as its mayor.

Jake is survived by his wife, Lois of Highland Haven; daughters, Elizabeth Basham of Menefee, California, Annette Robinson of Newport Beach, California, Maria Ilharreguy and husband Todd of Flagstaff, Arizona, and Frances Trane and husband Byron of Newport Beach, California; sons, Jack Kalisvaart of Oceanside, California, Anthony Kalisvaart of Palm Springs, California, Nicholas Morrison and wife Roxanne of Torrance, California, and Larry Mitchell Morrison of La Mirada, California; 24 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Harrison, Wilma Pachecho, and Elizabeth Patrick; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jake was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson.

A funeral service is 2 p.m. March 20 at Putnam Funeral Home, 145 Texas Ave. in Kingsland, (325) 388-0008, with the Revs. Jenny Tucker and John Weston officiating.  The Highland Lakes Honor Guard will render military honors.
