Sandra Kaye Sharp, 79, of Kingsland, Texas, passed away Feb. 24, 2017. She was born to Thomas and Lois (Acker) Stubbins on Nov. 9, 1937, in Chicago.
Mrs. Sharp was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority and the neighborhood tenant association and was a life member of the ladies auxiliary to the VFW. She enjoyed going to the theater, coloring, watching TV, and weekly card games of Skip Bo and Train.
From 1964-73, Sandra and Hal acted as foster parents for Connecticut Child and Family Services, caring for foster babies in their home until permanent adoption could be arranged. During this period, Sandra and Hal lovingly cared for 20 foster babies. When Sandra was asked how many children she has, with a smile she replied: “23.”
She is survived by her daughter, Sandy Lynn Sharp of Marble Falls; son Thomas Sharp and wife Marcia Ramos-Sharp of Portland, Maine; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Mary Lawrence.
Sandra was preceded in death by her husband, Hal Sharp, and son Jeffery Sharp.
The family requests memorial donations be made in Sandra’s name to the American Cancer Society.
Visitation is 3-5 p.m. March 3 at Putnam Funeral Home, 145 Texas Ave. in Kingsland, (325) 388-0008. A funeral service is 10 a.m. March 4 at the funeral home with the Rev. Richard Vandeventer officiating.
