William Jackson Rogers, 75, of Llano died Sept. 18, 2016

William Jackson “W.J.” Rogers passed away Sept. 18, 2016, in Llano, Texas, at the age of 75. W.J. was born Feb. 25, 1941, in Llano to Odessa Lee (Elliott) Moore and Jack Stein Rogers.
He married Mary Cathren Prewitt on Oct. 25, 1958, in Llano.
W.J. was a member of the Llano Church of Christ, served on the Llano Volunteer Fire Department and the city council, coached youth softball, and was a Boy Scout leader. He had a passion for fishing, camping, hunting, and working.
W.J. worked for the Lower Colorado River Authority and retired after 26 years.
He was always helping others and always had a smile on his face, enjoying every minute of it. Family was everything to him. W.J. never met a stranger; he saw everyone as a dear friend. Many memories have been made with this wonderful, caring man by many people. Although he will be greatly missed, Heaven has gained an amazing Angel.
W.J. is survived by wife, Mary Cathren Rogers; children, Danny Rogers, Larry Rogers and wife Cheri, Sheila (Rogers) Clayton and husband Glenn, and Jack Rogers, all of Llano; sisters, Janet Haynie, Barbara Morris, and Karen Rogers; grandchildren, Misty Donaldson, Dawn Stich, Chris Kee, Alex Kee, Cristy Vaught, Stacy Gann, Corey Sullivan, Justin Leeds, Jeramy Leeds, and A.J. Leeds; 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; aunt Audrey Wooten; sister-in-law Frankie Rogers; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Curtis Rogers.
Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Sept. 19 at Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral, 307 E. Sandstone in Llano, (325) 247-4300.
A funeral service is 10 a.m. Sept. 20 at the funeral home followed by a graveside service at Llano City Cemetery with David Hankins officiating.
Pallbearers are Justin Leeds, Jeramy Leeds, A.J. Leeds, D.J. Sullivan, Joe Kirk Gann, David Vaught, David Stich, and Keven Donaldson.
