Manuel Rodriguez, 77, of Granite Shoals died July 4, 2016

Manuel Rodriguez, 77, of Granite Shoals, Texas, passed away July 4, 2016. He was born to Mercy and Nancy (Galindo) Rodriguez on Dec. 31, 1938, in Smithson Valley, Texas.

Mr. Rodriguez was a concrete finisher by trade and enjoyed the hard work. He also enjoyed tinkering with cars, reading and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Watching fireworks was also a favorite pastime of his; fittingly, he was born on New Year’s Eve and passed on the Fourth of July.

He is survived by his wife, Georgia; daughters Beatrice Vasquez and husband Richard and Bernice Vega, all of Granite Shoals; four sons, Abel Rodriguez and Gabriel Rodriguez, both of Granite Shoals, and Danny Rodriguez and Michael Neito, both of San Antonio; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Manuel was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Genny Hart.

Visitation is 4-6 p.m. July 8 at Putnam Funeral Home, 145 Texas Ave. in Kingsland, (325) 388-0008. A funeral service is 10 a.m. July 9 at the funeral home.
