Yvonne L. Baugh
Yvonne L. Baugh, formerly of Tow, Texas, passed away April 1, 2016, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Born Yvonne Louise Clarke on Nov. 16, 1926, in Dunedin, New Zealand, she lived there and later in Christchurch until moving to the United States in 1973.
In New Zealand, she worked in a number of capacities and married a Dutch immigrant, Johannes (Joop) Keats, who died after 16 years together. Once remarried and living in Texas, Yvonne was known in the upper Highland Lakes area as a hospice volunteer, a fashion show coordinator, a member of a Course in Miracles study group and, most of all, for her kind and loving spirit, making many friends over the years in Tow, Llano, Kingsland and Marble Falls.
Among her favorite things were tea, licorice and the beauty of nature — especially flowers and the “wee redbirds.”
She is survived by two dear nieces, Beth Wynn-Williams and Julie Cameron of New Zealand; two stepdaughters, Diane Sistrunk of Baton Rouge and Linda Kerin and husband Rick of Cincinnati; four grandchildren, Cinda Sistrunk Terral and husband Rodney, Shari Sistrunk Jefferies and husband John and Jason and John Valliant, sons of Linda Kerin; and four great-grandchildren, Ben and Maggie Terral and John Parker and Caroline Jefferies.
A graveside service is 11:30 a.m. June 17 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, after which her ashes will be interred at the grave of her husband, Lt. Col. John D. Baugh.
For those who wish to do so, the family requests donations be made to Friends of Hospice Highland Lakes, P.O. Box 1843, Marble Falls, TX 78654; or to The Hospice of Baton Rouge, 9063 Siegen Lane, Suite A, Baton Rouge, LA 70810.
