Charles Lynn Hooks passed away April 8, 2016, in Temple, Texas, at the age of 86. He was born Sept. 13, 1929, in Kosciusko, Mississippi, to Mildred Irene (Ray) and Harvey J. Hooks.
Charles was a supervisor at a steel mill and belonged to the Houston Drag Boat Club. He was in the Marine Corps and served in the Korean War and World War II.
He is survived by daughters, Cynthia Ann Hooks Smith (Carl) of Buchanan Dam and Charlotte Leonard of Wagner, Oklahoma; brother Gene Hooks of Florence, Mississippi; stepsister, Dorothy Ford of Mississippi; grandchildren James Faulkner, Tiger Leonard and Herbie Leonard; great-grandchildren, Autumn Faulkner, Zoe Faulkner and Joaquin Faulkner; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty B. Hooks; brother Ray Alexander; and grandson Kristopher Faulkner.
Visitation is 4-6 p.m. April 12 at Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home, 900 Industrial Blvd. in Kingsland, (325) 388-6767. A funeral service is 11 a.m. April 13 at the funeral home with Pastor Richard Vandeventer officiating. A graveside service will follow at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park in Burnet. After the graveside service will be a celebration of life at Cindy Smith’s residence at the Black Rock Cottages, 3100 RR 261 in Buchanan Dam.
Pallbearers are Jimmy Faulkner, Allen Dunn, Michael Joe Smith, Dakota Smith, Logan Smith and Josh Smith. Honorary pallbearer is John Rayborn.
