Ray Lynn ‘Rusty’ Chism
Ray Lynn “Rusty” Chism passed away March 9, 2016, in Temple, Texas, at the age of 61. He was born July 14, 1954, in Tucson, Arizona, to Marthlyn (Burnett) and Raymon Chism.
Rusty was a resident of Llano since 1968. He was a member of the Roping Club and the Rodeo Association. He worked extensively on the new roping arena.
He is survived by his mother, Marthlyn Chism; brother, Wayne Chism of Llano; sisters, Nancy Chism of Bluffton, Patsy Altenhoff and husband David of New Braunfels and Donna O’Leary of Hutto; nephews, Travis O’Leary and wife Rachel, Tyler O’Leary and Mark Altonhoff; and great-niece, Reagan O’Leary.
Rusty was preceded in death by his father, Raymon Chism.
Visitation is 5-7 p.m. March 13 at Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral, 307 E. Sandstone in Llano, (325) 247-4300. A funeral service is 11 a.m. March 14 at the funeral home with the Rev. Mary Louise “Skip” Brasher officiating. A graveside service will follow at Bluffton Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Travis O’Leary, Tyler O’Leary, Daniel Gutierrez, Randy Morgan, Lance Garrett, David Altenhoff, T.J. Webster and Mark Altenhoff. Honorary pallbearers are Frosty Miller, Chuck Dalcheau, Bart Freeman and Gary Bauman.
