Emma Virginia Borho Oertli, 97, of Bertram died Jan. 16, 2016

Emma Virginia Borho Oertli, 97, of Bertram was born March 12, 1918, in Hutto to Leo Thomas and Charlotte (Shafer) Borho. On Jan. 16, 2016, she went to be with the Lord and celebrate with her husband of 64 years, Ernest Henry Oertli Jr., on his birthday.
She and the angels probably made him a cherry pie but didn’t add the 102 candles.
She is well-known for her cooking, her kind and loving heart and her helping hands. She moved with her family to the Oatmeal community in 1948.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest “Sonny” Oertli; brothers, Philip Borho, Leo Borho, Carl Barho and Nick Barho; and sisters Pauline Jenkins, Annie Cain and Nell Hestand.
Virginia is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Virginia and Al Downing of Bertram; son and daughter-in-law, Ernest “Skipper” and Patsy Oertli of Bertram; grandchildren, Tanya Mathis and husband Garrett of Bertram, Stuart Oertli and wife Connie of Lubbock, Charla Rogers and husband Gaeron of Bertram, and Emily Stone and husband Dan of Arvada, Colorado; great-grandchildren, Morgan, Zane, Tyler, Kade, Sadie, Ella, Jeb, Nayeli, Audra and Cayden; sister Lois Hausenfluke of Austin; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Jan. 22 at Edgar and Jenkins Family Funeral Home, 109 N. Main St. in Burnet, (512) 756-4444. A funeral service is 10 a.m. Jan. 23 at First Baptist Church in Bertram with the Rev. Gordon Bergstrom officiating. Interment will follow at Oatmeal Cemetery in Bertram.
