Leola Maxine McKandless Reed, 81, of Burnet died Jan. 17, 2015

Leola Maxine McKandless Reed, 81, of Burnet, Texas, passed away Jan. 17, 2015. She was born in Hico, Texas, on Jan. 25, 1934, to B.D. and Ola McKandless.

Maxine graduated from Fairy High School in 1951. She married Pete Reed the following year on Aug. 16, 1952.

Maxine was a member of First Baptist Church in Burnet and could frequently be found helping where she could.

Maxine is survived by daughters, Deborah Ann Reed Denison and husband Stan and Rebecca Kay Reed Ayers; and son, William Gary Reed.

Maxine will forever be remembered by her treasured grandchildren Jerry Wayne Holt and wife Sandi, Stephen Jay Russell and Wife Wendy, Kristopher Dual Ayers and wife Stephanie and Matthew William Reed.

She cherished her great-grandchildren, Steven Paul Whisman, Caitlin Marie Russell, Jayden Claire Russell and Rebecca Rose Ayers.

She is also survived by sister-in-law Alice Reed Roe Willis and brother-in-law Oran Bright.

Maxine was loved by countless other friends and family whom were blessed to know her.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of more than 52 years, Pete Reed; sister, Loretta McKandless Bright; son-in-Law Ken Ayers; and grandson Chad Elliott Denison.

A viewing is 6-8 p.m. Jan. 18 at Edgar & Jenkins Family Funeral Home, 109 N. Main St. in Burnet, (512) 756-4444. A funeral is 10 a.m. Jan. 19 at First Baptist Church in Burnet. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. at Murphree Cemetery in Evant.
